The beaches of Filicudi
You don't come to Filicudi for the beaches: you come for the sea. The coves are pebbled, mostly small, and the best things can only be seen from the water.
The fishermen's hamlet
The fishing hamlet on the south side, with its pebble beach in front of the houses and a couple of places to eat. It's where the afternoon goes.
The Bue Marino
The cave in the cliff where the water glows blue from below: named after the monk seal, which lived here. Only visible by boat, and the main reason to hire one.
La Canna
The spire of rock standing out of the sea west of the island. Not a beach, but circling it is the best moment of any boat trip here.
What to expect
Minimal services, little shade, reef shoes essential. Anyone after lidos and comfort is better off on Lipari.
Pecorini a Mare
Pebbles · Silence
The fishing hamlet on the south coast: pebbles, boats hauled ashore, slow evenings. The Aeolians as they were.
Stay in Capo d'Orlando
A base in the centre — and everything else becomes a day trip.
The port for the Aeolians is 45 minutes away, the Nebrodi right behind. Breakfast served early for dawn departures.
